Randy L. Evetts
Pueblo, Colorado, Exec. Dir. SE Colo AHEC, also, President of Colorado Rural Health Center, Chair Pueblo School District Health Advisory Committee, Appointed: April 2008 to a four-year term.
There is little in the way of rural health care in the Rocky Mountain West that Randy Evetts doesn't know well. Whether it is working as a rural hospital administrator, managing rural health clinics in the Rocky Ford area, directing the Office of Rural Outreach at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center or working in the area of school health in rural communities, Evetts could write the book.
When you ask him about the legacy all this time and effort might produce, Evetts says he hopes "rural citizens are able to stay in rural areas and maintain the quality of life that they value because they have access to healthcare and health services."
Key to that legacy is providing healthcare access for children. Health, says Evetts, is related to students' academic success. The list of organizations with which he works speaks to his unending belief in healthcare for children: The Pueblo Community Diabetes Project, the Pueblo City Schools Health and Safety Advisory Committee, the Colorado Prevention Center, the Colorado Health Advisory Board for Colorado Loan Repayment and the Colorado Rural Health Center.
Evetts is currently the Executive Director of the Southeastern Colorado Area Health Education Center, an organization dedicated to providing quality educational services that are accessible and affordable for students of the health care professions, health care providers and consumers; and to improve the geographic distribution of health manpower.
Evetts holds a B.S. from Colorado State University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
