Ten year vision:
Educate, recruit, and retain a diverse, high quality workforce that is geographically distributed and accessible to vulnerable and underserved populations.
GOAL 1: Expand and enhance health professional programs that produce a diverse health care workforce of oral, mental and physical health providers who practice in rural or underserved communities of Colorado.
Recruitment and Retention – Support efforts to improve recruitment and retention of rural and minority students into nursing, advanced practice nursing, physician assistant programs and mental health training programs in Colorado.
Training – Invest in effective post-secondary health professional training programs that produce a diverse, high-quality health care workforce that will serve in rural or urban underserved areas of Colorado.
Capacity – Enhance health professional training infrastructure (capital, equipment, virtual classrooms, other technologies) to expand training programs in rural and/or underserved regions of the state.
GOAL 2: Prepare oral, mental and physical health workforce for evolving and expanding roles in health care and community health settings.
Workforce Transformation – Support programs and initiatives to expand and evolve the practice of oral, mental and physical health providers to support integrated, team-based care and to maximize the roles of practitioners.
