Grants in the funding priority area called "Oral Health Improvement" seek to address the need for better access to oral services for the underserved. The five-year, $5 million dollar Oral Health Improvement Program has two goals: 1) Increase the long- term capacity of the oral health safety net to meet the needs of the underserved in Colorado, and 2) Enable a new generation of Colorado children to be free of the devastating consequences of oral disease.
The foundation will accept single- year or multi- year proposals from non- profit or
governmental agencies wishing to impact one of these goals. Eligible applicants
will be asked to focus on one or more of the following objectives.
- Increase the availability of low- cost oral health services in underserved communities.
- Reduce barriers (cultural, language, geographic and financial) to preventive and restorative oral care for underserved populations.
- Address oral health disparities in affected populations.
- Increase the availability of preventive education and services for low-income children.
- Increase the availability of preventive education and services for low-income pregnant women and new mothers.
- Increase attention to the prevention of oral disease in children by creating meaningful collaborations between oral health and health care providers.
