Sophie Faust is a native of Las Animas in southeastern Colorado. She received her B.A. in Sociology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. To foster her lifelong passion for social justice, she worked as a Mission Intern for the United Methodist Church General Board of Global Ministries in Bangalore, India, on child labor issues and in Seattle, Washington on sexual assault prevention. Sophie returned to Colorado to work for the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA). Sophie’s eight years with DOLA provided her the opportunity to manage the implementation of federal and state grants, build partnerships and community capacity to meet locally identified needs and coordinate efforts for the Colorado Rural Development Council.
